Royal Rumble 2010

WWE Title Match-John Cena defends against MVP
How we got here:
Survivor Series 2008: At some point during the night, MVP and John Cena run into each other backstage, give each other fist pumps and wish each other luck in their matches. MVP tells Cena WHEN he beats Shawn Michaels and Triple H tonight, he'd like to be the first one to get a shot at the gold. Cena says MVP deserves it and WHEN he wins tonight, he's got it!
Raw the following night: Show opens up with John Cena. He does his usual routine where he talks about how he wouldn't have achieved this success without the support of the WWE Universe. MVP's music hits. Out comes MVP with a microphone. He says "Congratulations champ." They both shake hands and MVP looks to the crowd to clap a little more for Cena which they oblige. MVP says "I hope you didn't forget about your promise to me last night."

Cena tells MVP that he didn't forget. He's a man of his word. Any time he wants a shot, he's got one. MVP says "How about tonight?" Huge roar from the crowd. Cena pauses and says "You're on!". Crowd cheers. The two shake hands as Raw goes to commercial.

At some point during the show, Mark Henry is in the back with MVP and MVP says tonight, he's going to achieve his dream and win the WWE Title. Mark Henry tells him good luck.

It's time for the main event and MVP is out first to a pretty good pop from the crowd. Out next is Cena who gets his typical split reaction. In ring introductions and the match is a go. Bell rings and they begin with a nice feeling out process. Cena and MVP keep testing each other's wrestling skills. Any time one would get the advantage, the other would slip out and they'd give each other a little clap to give each other props for one upping the other. Eventually the feeling out process gets a little heated when MVP gets frustrated and throws a punch to Cena's face. Cena gets annoyed and they start trading punches.

Both guys hit all their trademark moves as the match goes back and forth for the better part of 15-20 minutes. A nice main event for Raw these days. When MVP finally sets up his finisher, Cena counters into a small package and picks up the win to retain his title. MVP looks stunned. He sits there for a minute before Cena helps him to his feet. Cena extends his hand and MVP starts to leave...when he stops, shakes his head, and shakes Cena's hand. He raises Cena's hand as the winner when out of nowhere he kicks him in the gut and NAILS him with his finisher. Cena is out. MVP isn't done though. He grabs Cena's belt and drapes it across Cena's face and begins to repeatedly stomp the belt into Cena's face over and over again.

Referees and security are out to try and break it up and MVP is punching anyone who gets in the ring. He's fighting off anyone who tries to help Cena. Finally Mark Henry comes out and MVP seems calmed down. As MVP seems to realize what he did, Mark Henry tries to escort him out. Cena turns around and drills Henry with the belt! Show ends with MVP standing over Cena and Henry's prone bodies being showered with a chorus of boos.
This builds to MVP defeating Mark Henry at the December pay per view in a grudge match while Cena defeats Jack Swagger in a hotly contested match. Over the course of the next few weeks, MVP gets more and more heelish in his actions by doing things like handcuffing Cena and beating him to a bloody mess several times. He goes as far as to try to choke him out with a hanger leading up to their title match at the Royal Rumble.

Unified Tag Team Title Match-DX defend the titles against The Hart Dynasty
How we got here:
At WWE's December ppv, DX defeated Big Show and Jericho for the tag team titles. At that same pay per view, the Hart Dynasty won a 4 way #1 contenders tag team match over Evan Bourne and Rey Mysterio, Cryme Tyme, and Finlay & Sheamus (they're together on Raw at this point). After the pay per view, the natural feud takes shape as the Hart Dynasty look for revenge against DX from the old Hart Foundation vs. DX era.

Title Unification Ladder Match-IC Champion John Morrison vs. US Champion The Miz
How we got here:
In a battle of former tag team partners, the WWE looks to unify the titles and make them similar to the tag team titles where the champion can defend the title on any show he chooses. The winner of the match chooses which title sticks around (in name).

World Title Match-The Undertaker defends against Chris Jericho
How we got here:

Jericho seeks out and gets his title shot against the Undertaker...one on one for the first time on a big stage.

Grudge Match-Bryan Danielson vs. CM Punk
How we got here:
When Bryan Danielson debuted he wanted to take on the best wrestlers the WWE had to offer. That brought out CM Punk who brought up their past and how he knew that Danielson was great...but CM Punk is better than him. This is a rivalry that quicky turns into a flat out feud.

The Dibiases vs. Randy Orton and Cody Rhodes
Brett Dibiase saved Ted Dibiase from a beat down when Orton and Cody finally turned on Dibiase. This is the match up of the brothers taking on what is left of Legacy.

The Royal Rumble Match
The participants this year are:
Jack Swagger, Mark Henry, CM Punk, Bryan Danielson, John Morrison, The Miz, Fit Finlay, Sheamus, Matt Hardy, R Truth, Cryme Tyme, Triple H, Shawn Michaels, Hart Dynasty, Randy Orton, Brett DiBiase, Cody Rhodes, Batista, Rey Mysterio, Big Show, Tommy Dreamer, Christian (ECW Title is gone as ECW is just another show like Superstars), Evan Bourne, Jack Swagger, and some surprises!

TNA Impact Sept 9th - Oct 14th

TNA Impact: Thursday, September 9th, 2010

The show opens with Dixie Carter in the ring, she talks about how amazing the No Surrender PPV was, but proceeds to explain the situation with AJ Styles relinquishing the title. She talks about the 16 man tournament to decide a new champion, with the final four competing at Bound For Glory. She says that tonight there will be three matches, with the first one starting... right now.

World Title Round 1: Kurt Angle defeats Rhino by submission after dodging a Gore and putting on the Anklelock.

Desmond Wolfe is backstage talking to Samoa Joe, complaining that the match should have been stopped and him awarded the title after he broke AJ's arm. Samoa Joe tells him to shut up and stop whining.

World Title Round 1: Desmond Wolfe defeats Bobby Lashley with a Lariat after escaping Lashley's Dragon Sleeper by ramming him into an exposed turnbuckle. After the match he grabs a mic and tells everyone how he is going to win the tournament, no matter the cost after he was robbed of the title at No Surrender. Kurt Angle comes out and talks about their history. He says that he requested that Dixie Carter place them in the brackets so they would meet in the next round. Their match isn't for a few weeks, but why not get started early? They brawl for a few minutes before they are separated by security.

Angelina Love vs. Lacey Von Erich goes to a no contest as all of both groups of Beautiful People brawl.

Motorcity Machine Guns come out to celebrate their title victory, they are attacked from behind by Beer Money, who announce they're getting their rematch at BFG. They leave the MMG laying unconscious in the ring.

World Title Round 1: Daniels defeats Suicide with the BME (Best Moonsault Ever.) after the Pope hits Suicide with a steel chair. The Pope tries to continue the attack after the match, but the save is made by Daniels. Suicide gets on the mic and demands another match for the X-Division title at BFG. The Pope says under one condition, that if he wins, Suicide must reveal his identity. Suicide accepts.

TNA Impact: Thursday, September 16th, 2010

World Title Round 1: Eric Young defeats Brutus Magnas after a Piledriver. Eric Young demands that Brutus lie down for him since he's responsible for making him what he was in TNA. After Brutus refuses Eric flips out and completely mauls him. Doug Williams comes out to stop the attack after the pinfall and EY goes to the back with that dumb grin on his face.

Sarita and Taylor Wilde are backstage talking about the Knockouts division, and Wilde says she's going to give her first title defense to Sarita at BFG. Sarita thanks her, but warns her that just b/c they're friends, doesn't mean she's going to try her best to win the title.

World Title Round 1: Hernandez defeats Homicide after Homicide gets DQed for using a chair.

Update on AJ Styles, he comes in a cast, talks about how disappointed he is in having to give up the title, but he's going to try his best to make sure he's back as soon as possible. He's got a lot of respect for most of the people in the tournament, but there's one person that he'll never respect, and that person knows exactly who he is.

World Title Round 1: Matt Morgan defeats Tomko after a Hellevator.

TNA Impact: Thursday September 23rd, 2010

World Title Round 1: Robert Roode defeats. James Storm after a Payoff (Bridging Cradle Suplex.) Neither man is happy to be fighting in this match, especially with the MMG on commentary. They stay out of the match, but taunt Beer Money from the ramp after the match, posing with the Tag Team Titles.

Kurt Angle & Daniels defeat Eric Young & Desmonde Wolfe after Angle hits the Angleslam on Eric Young. Angle and Daniels celebrate in the ring afterwards, while Wolfe walks up the ramp, leaving EY laying in the ring.

World Title Round 1: Samoa Joe defeats Abyss with a Rear Naked Choke. Abyss is busted open in the match (cause it wouldn't be an Abyss match if he wasn't.) Abyss never submits, but is completely out cold, and the ref awards the match to Samoa Joe. Afterward, Joe waits to make sure Abyss is okay, then helps him up.

A preview of the quarterfinals is given, with Kurt Angle vs. Desmond Wolfe, Daniels vs. Eric Young, Hernandez vs. Matt Morgan, and Samoa Joe vs. Robert Roode slated for the next two weeks.

TNA Impact: Thursday September 30th, 2010

World Title Quarterfinal: Daniels defeats Eric Young with a BME after Brutus Magnas distracts EY.

Lethal Consequences defeat Abyss & Bobby Lashley after Jay Lethal hits a low blow on Abyss while Consequences Creed and Lashley brawl on the outside.

World Title Quarterfinal: Desmond Wolfe defeats Kurt Angle with the Lariat after a brutal match. Both men hit all of their signature moves, Wolfe kicks out of the Angleslam and escapes from the Anklelock after Angle cinches it in in the middle of the ring.

TNA Impact: Thursday October 7th, 2010

Samoa Joe defeats Robert Roode in what amounts to a squash match. James Storm tries to help his tag team partner, but is stopped by the Machineguns.

Backstage we see Angelina Love talking to Tara and Christy Hemme saying how glad she is to be given a second chance. She wants revenge on Lacey Von Erich so bad for supplanting her in the Beautiful People, and at Bound For Glory she's going to get her chance with the Tag Team gold on the line.

Matt Morgan defeats Hernandez after a Carbon Footprint. After the match the two shake hands and Hernandez gets a mic. He says since he's not scheduled for a match at BFG, he's got some unfinished business with Homicide. If he likes using chairs so much, perhaps he'd like to put his Global Title on the line in a No-DQ Street Fight.

A preview is run for the final four at Bound For Glory, Demond Wolfe will match up against Daniels while Matt Morgan will face Samoa Joe in the semifinals. The winners will face each other for the World Title while the the losers will face each other for the #1 contendership at Turning Point.

TNA Impact: Thursday October 14th, 2010

Go home show for Bound For Glory, that Sunday on PPV. Several segments with the match participants, interviews with the 4 semifinalists.

Plus another match is announced for the PPV. Feast or Fired Match between Brutus Magnas, Eric Young, Abyss, and Jay Lethal. We'll see you this Sunday... only on PPV (or Justin.tv)

After reading through all the BS involving The League and the DC the actual showdown is awesome. I am really enjoying where each is going. Can’t wait to see where each program is headed.

I kind of already gave the run down of the shows leading up to the pay per view, so I'm not really wanting to do a show by show breakdown, but much of the shows revolved around everyone vying to qualify for the Royal Rumble and the intrigue regarding the winner's right to wrestle either of the world champions at Wrestlemania. This Royal Rumble is STACKED with main eventers and future main eventers. Only time will tell who will get the title shot at Wrestlemania!

That's fine, we both accomplished the same thing, we just did it in a little bit different fashion. The important part was to get to the PPV.

Edit: I obviously had a lot more ground to cover than you did.

Bound For Glory VI, October 17th, 2010

Welcome everybody, to the premier event of TNA, Bound For Glory! I'm Mike Tenay along side Taz, and we've got a great card for you tonight, but we're going to start with our Ultimate X Match.

X-Division Championship, Title vs. Identity, Ultimate X: Suicide vs. The Pope D'Angelo Deniro ©

Both men come out, and the action gets started immediately. A few reversals lead to Suicide pushing off the back of the Pope and making the first attempt for the title. However Pope is quick to recover and pulls Suicide down back to the ring apron. After trading signature moves, Pope makes an attempt to get the belt, climbing one set of scaffolding with Suicide climbing the set directly across. Both my dive for the belt and start grappling with each other. Suicide knocks the Pope off, but the Pope manages to snag one of Suicide's legs on the way down, sending them both tumbling to the mat. After a few more minutes of wrestling, Suicide goes to the outside, and sets up a table. He tries to send the Pope over the ropes through the table, but the Pope counters and hits a suplex to get him back in the ring. After a few more minutes, both men are on top of the scaffold, trading punches. The Pope finally lands the final blow, sending Suicide tumbling down to the floor and through the table he set up earlier. The Pope slides across the ropes and claims his title.

As per stipulations, Suicide must now unmask. With The Pope taunting him in the middle of the ring, Suicide unmasks to reveal he is Kaz, and when he unmasks, incredibly the crowd cheers him.

Your winner and still X-Division Champion: The Pope D'Angelo Deniro (13:27)

We go to the back where Demond Wolfe is in the process of beating down Daniels. After assaulting him mercilessly with whatever is in range, including a hockey stick, security is able to restrain him. As Daniels lies motionless Wolfe laughs maniacally.

TNA Heavyweight Championship Semifinal #1 Desmond Wolfe vs. Daniels

Wolfe comes out to the ring with a mic. He says that Daniels isn't here to fight him, he should win by forfeit. He tells the referee to ring the bell and start counting, but he is interrupted by Dixie Carter. Dixie comes out and explains that indeed, Daniels will be unable to compete due to the seriousness of his injuries. However, everyone who is watching is expecting to see a semifinal match, and that is exactly what they are going to see. She has found a replacement, and that replacement is...

Get ready to fly! AJ Styles comes out and barrels down to the ring, his arm still in a cast and starts pummeling Desmond Wolfe. The bell rings and we're off. AJ continues the beat down on the man who broke his arm just a month and a half ago. He looks more determined than ever to win this match. After hitting Wolfe with the Pele, AJ lines him up for the Styles Clash... and gets it! ONE.... TWO.... And Wolfe kicks out at the last possible millisecond. AJ is awestruck. The pace slows down a bit, as Wolfe fights back by attacking the same arm that he broke. After another 10 minutes of wrestling, AJ hits the Pele again, and this time goes for the 450 splash. He goes up and Wolfe jumps up and slams AJ's broken arm into the mat as he comes down. He sets up AJ for the Lariat hits and gets the three count.

Your winner and first finalist for the TNA World Title: Desmond Wolfe (15:42)

TNA Heavyweight Championship Semifinal #2 Samoa Joe vs. Matt Morgan

The two big men come out, shake hands and begin the match. Good back and forth match. Each man hits his signature moves. Finally Joe tries to set up Morgan up for the muscle buster, but Morgan powers out by flipping over Joe and gets nailed by the Carbon Footprint. Morgan pins him... one.... two.... three, but Joe's foot was on the ropes... and the referee missed it! Typical Russo booking. Joe is livid, but there's nothing he can do about it.

Your winner and second finalist for the TNA World Title: Matt Morgan (11:31)

TNA Knockouts Championship: Sarita vs. Taylor Wilde (c)

Solid high flying match, both Knockouts definitely earned their paycheck tonight. Sarita wins after a series of German Suplexes and scores the pinfall with a Fisherman's Suplex. After the match both women embrace, and Wilde raises Sarita's hand.

Winner and NEW TNA Knockouts Champion: Sarita (10:19)

Feast or Fired Match: Brutus Magnas vs. Abyss vs. Eric Young vs. Jay Lethal

The best match of the night so far, the top spots include Jay Lethal drop kicking Abyss while he's hanging from a briefcase. Brutus Magnas and Eric Young teaming up for a spike piledriver on Jay Lethal. Abyss busting out the tacks and doing a double chokeslam of Magnas and EY onto them. Jay Lethal gets the first briefcase, Abyss the second, Eric Young the third, and Magnas the fourth.

After the match they reveal the contents of the cases: (20:12)

Eric Young: World Title Shot
Abyss: Global Title Shot
Jay Lethal: X-Division Title Shot
Brutus Magnas: FIRED!

TNA Tag Team Title Match: Beer Money vs Motorcity Machineguns (c)

Another solid match, at first the match just turns into a brawl, with all four men in the ring. Eventually the referee regains control of the match, and Shelley and Storm go at it. Storm is able to beat Shelley down, and Beer Money makes quick tags to keep him down. Eventually Shelley is able to make the big tag to Sabin, and he cleans house. After some more back and forth until Roode brings in a chair to try and take out of the Machineguns. However they dropkick the chair back into Roode, setting up their finishing move and getting the pin.

Your winners and still TNA Tag Team Champions: The Motorcity Machineguns. (13:45)

TNA Knockouts Tag Team Championship Match: The Beautiful People (Angelina Love & Tara w/ Christy Hemme) vs. The Beautiful People (c) (Lacey Von Erich & Madison Rayne w/ Velvet Sky)

Standard Knockouts Match. Tara hits the Widow's Peak on Lacey Von Erich and Love demands the tag, she really wants to get revenge on Lacey Von Erich. Tara obliges, but as she's stepping through the ropes Love kicks her in the midsection, and she falls through the ropes to the floor. LVE looks dumbfounded, but after realizing what just happened goes to hug Love, however she is then attacked from behind by Madison Rayne. The reunited Beautiful People proceed to beat down LVE, Tara, and Christy Hemme, afterwards holding the Tag Title up in victory.

No Contest (8:11)

TNA Global Title Match No DQ Street Fight: Hernandez vs Homicide (c)

Hernandez comes prepared with a trash can full of various international objects. The two men start trading blows with Kendo Sticks, both refusing to fall. Finally both sticks completely shatter. After a brutal match, Hernandez wins after a Border Toss through a table.

Your winner and NEW Global Champion: Hernandez (15:58)

TNA Heavyweight Championship #1 Contender Match: AJ Styles vs. Samoa Joe

Wolfe comes out to taunt AJ and Joe, but they both respond by tumbling over the top rope onto him with a suicide dive. Wolfe crawls to the back, realizing he'd better get ready for his match instead. Joe counters the Styles Clash with a roll up for a close two count. AJ starts mounting his comeback with a flying forearm from the top rope. After Joe refuses to fall, he hits the Pele and sends Joe reeling. He connects with the 450 Splash to get the 1-2-3.

Your winner and #1 Contender for the TNA World Title at Turning Point: AJ Styles (22:19)

TNA Heavyweight Championship Finals: Matt Morgan vs. Desmond Wolfe

Morgan and Wolfe both come out, after a stare down in the middle of the ring, they trade punches. Wolfe goes for the Lariat, but Morgan ducks it and lands a clothesline of his own. After some more back and forth, Wolfe starts to get the upper hand. Wolfe takes Morgan to the outside, and attempts to break his arm the same fashion as he did AJ's. However Morgan is able to fight him off and start his comeback. He puts him back in the ring, where they trade punches, with Morgan coming out on top this time. Morgan lands the Carbon Footprint on Wolfe, but only gets a 2 count for it. Morgan then goes for the Hellevator, but Wolfe slips free, shoots off of the ropes and hits the Lariat, he pins Morgan and gets the 1-2-3.

Your winner and NEW TNA Heavyweight Champion: Desmond Wolfe (19:31)

As Wolfe celebrates with the title AJ comes out and they stare at each other in the middle of the ring, the PPV ends with a close up of both men.

I liked a lot of your booking, but I hate the finish of the show. Wolfe broke AJ's arm and they're just staring each other down? Really? I don't know, but if it's me I'd be trying to tear that person apart, not staring them down. Other than that, it was a good effort on your part and a show I'd love to see. I'll have mine up tomorrow.

Yeah, I was debating how to finish it, but I figured since they already had a match earlier in the evening which Desmond won, there wouldn't be a real need to brawl again. AJ is still hurting from the two matches and his broken arm, and Desmond, despite having two matches as well, doesn't need to beat him down, after all, he just won the title!

At the very least, this was damn fun to have something creative as opposed to just fact finding and debating.

Royal Rumble 2010

Opener: CM Punk vs. Bryan Danielson-
Punk and Danielson put on an excellent display of technical wrestling which is very reminiscent of the exhibition-style match that Chris Benoit and Kurt Angle had at Wrestlemania 17. Great back and forth action throughout the match. Danielson works on Punk's arm for the majority of the match as Punk tries his best to get the advantage with his array of kicks. In the end, at around the 20 minute mark, Bryan Danielson slips in his signature small package out of nowhere for the victory. Crowd gives a standing ovation afterwards but when Danielson sticks out his hand to Punk for the handshake, Punk snubs him to boos from the crowd.

Future: A Best 2 of 3 Falls Match at the next PPV

The Dibiases vs. Randy Orton and Cody Rhodes-
Orton and Rhodes are out first to boos from the crowd. Out next to a nice reception are the Dibiase brothers, Ted and Brett. Orton and Rhodes work Ted over for most of the match but when Ted goes for the tag, Brett drops down from the apron. Ted looks on in shock as Brett just stares him down. Ted turns around and gets hit with a vicious RKO by Orton as Rhodes and Orton pick up the win 1-2-3. After the match, Orton punts Dibiase right in the head as Brett, Cody, and Randy stand over the fallen Ted Dibiase Jr.

Future: Should lead to Randy Orton vs. Ted Dibiase Jr. at Wrestlemania

WWE Title Match-John Cena vs. MVP-
MVP is out first wearing new gear (short tights; like Shelton would wear and no chest guard) to a chorus of boos. Cena is out next and he wastes no time running down to the ring. They don't even wait for the bell as they start brawling immediately. The referee has a hard time controlling this one and thinks about ringing the bell several times during the match. It's a great brawl with both men pulling out all the stops...that are pushing the limits of being "legal" in a match. In the end though, Cena gets MVP up for the Attitude Adjustment when all of a sudden the lights go out in the arena. Several seconds of darkness later and a fireball springs up from MVP's hand in the ring. He just threw a fireball right in Cena's face!!! Cena is down in agony as the referee calls for the DQ. Crowd would usually boo but they are just in shock. MVP is escorted out of the arena forcefully by a large group of armed security guards as he just laughs maniacally. The commentators note that this is a very scary scene and that MVP has lost it.

Future: This leads to several rematches in the next few months that feature street fights, dog collar matches, and the inevitable steel cage match between the two men. This leads to a brief title reign by MVP.

Unified Tag Team Title Match-DX vs. The Hart Dynasty-
This is a match of the old vs. the young. More than that though, the Hart Dynasty have a bit of a revenge factor as in recent weeks DX had been making some light-hearted jokes about the Montreal Screwjob. The Hart Dynasty didn't take too kindly to that, but DX would get the advantage at every turn. During the match, the wily veterans use all their wit and experience to outsmart and outclass Tyson Kidd and DH Smith at every turn. DX dominate much of the match, but Kidd & Smith show their skill by using their combination of speed and power at various times throughout the match. In the end, Shawn Michaels looks to finish off Tyson Kidd in the ring as Triple H and DH Smith brawl on the floor. Michaels is poised to hit the top rope elbow when he sees Natalya spray something in Triple H's eyes on the floor. This distraction allows Tyson Kidd to hit a top rope hurricanrana on HBK. DH Smith rolls in and they hit their version of the "Hart Attack" to win the gold!

Future: A Wrestlemania Rematch

Title Unification Ladder Match-IC Champion John Morrison vs. US Champion The Miz
This match was just an all out war. Both men brought their games to the next level as Morrison used the ladder for many innovative high flying moves while Miz limited his offense to smashing Morrison with the ladder in various gruesome ways. A big turning point in the match was when Miz hit the "skull crushing finale" off the ladder, but couldn't capitalize quickly enough. As he ALMOST reached the titles that hung high above the ring, Morrison hit his springboard kick off the middle rope, which knocked Miz from his spot, high on the ladder. Morrison followed it up by slamming the ladder down on Miz and hitting the "starship pain" off the top rope on to the ladder. When Miz rolled out of the ring, clutching his ribs, Morrison was able to follow up and claim the titles. Excellent, excellent match.

Future: Both men move on to other feuds/title matches.

World Heavyweight Title Match-Undertaker vs. Chris Jericho-
Many times leading up to the Royal Rumble, Jericho claimed that tonight was to be his night where he finally captures the gold again and quiets the many parasites that watch him week after week on TV. The match doesn't disappoint as Jericho uses every bit of speed, cunning, and high octane offense he has at his disposal to keep the Undertaker from hitting some of his trademark moves. Jericho counters the "Old School" with a drop kick that sends Taker to the floor. Jericho follows that up with a classic Jericho move where he jumps to the turnbuckle and dives to the floor (used to use it more in ECW and WCW). When Undertaker goes for the last ride late in the match, Jericho counters with a frankensteiner and a bulldog. He hits the lionsault and goes for the cover, but Taker kicks out. Jericho traps Taker in the Walls of Jericho several times in the match but Undertaker gets to the ropes each time. When Jericho goes for the Codebreaker, Taker surprises him by grasping him by the throat and slamming him down with a chokeslam. One tombstone piledriver later and Undertaker retains the title. After the match, when Jericho is alone in the ring he throws a fit which is very similar to the fits he threw when he first turned heel in WCW.

Future: Both men move on to other feuds/title matches.

Shawn Michaels, 25. DH Smith, 26. Chris Jericho (replacing the injured Ted Dibiase, Jr.), 27. Kane, 28. Yoshi Tatsu, 29. Edge (replacing MVP who was barred from the arena), 30. Jack Swagger
Highlights:
Kofi Kingston, John Morrison, CM Punk, The Miz, and Christian were the first 5 men in and lasted all the way to almost the end of the Royal Rumble. Kofi, Miz, Morrison, and Punk were eliminated when Kane entered and started cleaning house. Kane also elminated Yoshi Tatsu within seconds of his entry into the Rumble. Michaels and DH Smith eliminated each other pretty quickly when they both went sailing over the top rope when Michaels hit a flying cross body on Smith. Christian was eliminated by Jericho who was thought to be eliminated earlier by Kane but he only got one foot down and both feet did NOT touch the floor. Jericho snuck back in just in time to eliminate Christian, leaving just him in the ring as Christian had already eliminated Kane with a "low bridge" rope maneuver. Just then, the 29th entrant's music hit and it was Edge. The ULTIMATE OPPORTUNIST RETURNS! Edge immediately takes it right to Jericho and eliminates him when he throws Jericho over the top and Jericho tries to skin the cat, but Edge hits a spear to officially eliminate him. Next out is the 30th entrant, Jack Swagger. It's either Jack Swagger or Edge in the main event of Wrestlemania! Swagger and Edge battle it out for several minutes before Jericho comes out while referee try to keep him back. This allows for a distraction just along for Jack Swagger to eliminate Edge! Jack Swagger will go on to Wrestlemania to get a title shot at whoever he chooses!
Future: This leads to several interesting matches. The next ppv would feature Jericho and Big Show vs. Edge and Christian in a grudge match. From there, they would move on to Chris Jericho vs. Edge, one on one at Wrestlemania 26. Jack Swagger would later go on to state that he wanted to accomplish two big feats in one night and that is winning the main event at Wrestlemania and ENDING THE UNDERTAKER'S UNDEFEATED STREAK! So the match would be Undertaker defending his World Heavyweight Title vs. Jack Swagger at Wrestlemania 26. The first 5 men who entered the Rumble were entered into the Money in the Bank Match at Wrestlemania along with Bryan Danielson, Evan Bourne, and Rey Mysterio. That would make for an extremely high flying encounter with a lot of innovation using the ladder.
